NICODEMUS; BORN AGAIN
Nicodemus, an Old Testament scholar,
Came to Jesus, confused, a midnight caller.
“What the heck does it mean to be ‘born again?’
Wasn’t one birth enough on this earthly plain?”
Compared to the old life a man once knew,
The new life in Christ, is like being made new!
A New Cleansing from all my sin, muck and mire,
My heart, washed inside(!) of all that was prior!
A New Forgiveness for all that once brought me shame,
I can hold my head up, because of His name.
New Inclinations with higher desires,
To do His will and please the Lord how He inspires.
A New Identity defines who I am,
Empty spaces not needing to fill and to cram.
A New Purpose, more than feeling satisfied,
Learning to live like Jesus, with Him as my guide.
A New Start after repeated failures,
Finding real life in life-giving behaviors.
A New Power over old temptations,
The wonders of growing sanctification.
A New Relationship with God Almighty,
Father, Son, Spirit, grace for the most unlikely.
