Hard Hearts
Do you have eyes that will not see?
Do you have ears that will not hear?
“I will see what I want to see.
I will hear what I want to hear.”
It’s all too true of all mankind,
Too often locked in one’s mind.
“I’ve already made up my mind!
Faith? Faith?! Why I’d rather fly blind!”
Are “the open-minded” open?
Are not the mind and will broken?
A stubborn heart, encased in steel,
Against which God’s words seem so weak.
To a hard heart can words appeal?
How can a proud heart become meek?
God’s words fly through the air like birds.
Will God’s words become empty words?
Will hard hearts just hear “strings of words?”
Or miraculously, watchwords?!
