“Come to Me”

Holiday season is here! And with that comes so much joy, anticipation, time with friends and family, and probably lots more emotions with the hustle and bustle. My daughter has been sick all week and with that came a slower pace of life, some restful and some not so much:) As I was reading books to her, she navigated to reading one over and over which I know God was speaking to me through. It was the story of the little children wanting to see Jesus in Matthew 19:14. The disciples apparently rebuked them, maybe saying things like, “Jesus doesn’t have time for you” or “Jesus is too important for these young children.” But was that Jesus’ attitude? No- he said “let the little ones come to me, do not stop them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.” The book reminded us that we are all like these children and need God.
I love the inviting heart of Jesus. I love that we don’t have to have it all together to come to him. I love that he wants to be with us, his little children. I love that He wants to have relationship with us- big or small, busy or rested, joyful or sad. He says, “draw near to me and I will draw near to you.” This season, are you drawing near to Him? Are you being faithful to come to him with a thankful heart? I have learned that just by being in his presence, running to Jesus like those little children, it is the biggest blessing of all.
