“THE FEELINGS gOD”
Our culture talks of “love” in some strange, simple terms.
“To love and accept me, my ways you must affirm!”
Can I say nothing when I see you self-destructing?
Is that how “love” is defined? “Yes! You are obstructing!”
To disagree with some is now taken as “hate.”
“Agree with me or we’ll no longer relate!”
“Accept me as I am! You surely must applaud!”
This is what happens when feelings become your “god.”
“To act against feelings, I now feel like a fraud!”
This is what happens when feelings become your “god.”
When “truth” is defined by what makes someone feel awed,
This is what happens when feelings become your “god.”
You want relationship, a great thing, ‘tis so true,
My opinion OK if that’s different from you?
Unconditional love, what we all do applaud,
Sacrificed at altars of the new “feelings god.”
