There is a God-given longing to know that our life matters.
That longing spurs us on into the lives of people.
However, it often seems that our efforts produce such little fruit, may seem unnoticed, or on occasion, may be misinterpreted as something bad. It’s at that point that we throw our hands in the air and utter, “What’s the use?”
Galatians 6:9-10 Do not be weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people…
Over the years I have become convinced that:
1. I am a terrible judge of how much fruit will be harvested, and when!
2. It is impossible for me to know what happens in people’s hearts (Unless they tell me).
3, It’s a bad idea to assume that if someone doesn’t tell me the good I did, that my efforts went for naught.
4. God “hides” a lot of the good we do from our vision, lest we become proud as peacocks.
5. Part of the joy of heaven will be the uncovering of what was hidden! There, we will see with crystal clarity that even the smallest things we did for someone else did, in fact, made a difference.
Mark 9:41 I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward.
So, for 2019, THINK BIG, ACT SMALL.
Don’t let the “apparent” lack of results/fruit deter you from serving the Lord.
