Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit (humble) for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn (broken) for they will be comforted
Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
I weary of facing the same temptations, day-after-day. Fighting the same internal battles, every day, can be discouraging IF you assume that one day you’ll be spiritually “mature enough” not to have to battle.
Newsflash: THAT day’s not arriving any time soon! Not until we see Jesus face-to-face.
Perhaps we’re meant to battle daily.
Perhaps the humility that is built by honestly facing yourself is of greater worth to God, to others, and to ourselves than not having to fight temptation at all!
Perhaps the fight with daily sin is meant to expose something deeper in the heart: the longing to be accepted in spite of my spiritual failures.
Perhaps this is where we especially meet God—in our brokenness.
