I chatted with a dear friend of mine who lost his wife of many years, and is in the middle of awful grief. As if that is not hard enough, a few extended family members are criticizing him for how he handled his wife’s end of life days. They are bitter. They don’t remember the many times he extended kindness to them in their times of need.
David experienced the same heartache.
Psalm 35:11 “Ruthless witnesses come forward; they question me on things I know nothing about. (12) They repay me evil for good and leave my soul forlorn.
(13) “Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth and humbled myself with fasting. When my prayers returned to me unanswered, (14) I went about mourning as through for my friend or brother. I bowed my head in grief as though weeping for my mother.”
1. Have you been one of the ones in verses 11 and 12?
2. Have you experienced David’s and my friend’s grief and frustration?
“Come to me all you who labor and are heavy-laden and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
