Journey through a worldview
A worldview is sort of like how we experience life. In other words how we perceive and do life…what lens are we looking through and how, why we do what we do. We’re influenced by how we were brought up, values, experiences, who we admire, what stirs our emotions, culture, media and more.
My buffet of a worldviews was: earning $ was most important, I will be happy, I can take what works for me out of this trend, religion or lifestyle. In other words: I am the center of the universe. This worldview brought on calamity, fear, and physical tummy aches. I felt bad but didn’t know how to change.
Fast forward to being born again and living the Christian Worldview why did it take so long to get back to what makes perfect sense and fits like a glove? Reading Gods word and learning His promises allows me to experience life fully with trust, wisdom, joy and delight. I can measure these cultural mazes against the word of God and safely navigate. For example when I give up being the center of the universe and put God where He belongs as the creator of the universe and the center of my life everything else falls into place. I am less burdened, I don’t always have to be in control of each outcome, no tummy pain.
God has made all the systems and given us all the talents to do and create and flourish. There is more depth to Gods View than any other worldview or view known to man. So the best bet is to keep living and learning and exploring with God in us and with us. He will show us more when He is the center of our life than we could ever see as the center of our universe. ;)
Next month: the kids’ journey through worldviews.
